Keener’s role is unannounced as of now, but the actress will join a star-studded cast that’s set to include Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, and Brendan Gleeson. Filming is expected to get underway later this year in December, so we’ll likely know more about who Keener will be playing by then.
Joker: Folie à Deux will once again be directed by Todd Phillips. The film will feature the return of Joaquin Phoenix as he reprises his Oscar-winning role as the titular DC villain. He will be joined by Grammy-winning superstar Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, making her the latest actress to portray the beloved DC character, following Margot Robbie and Kaley Cuoco.
Further details about its plot are still being kept under wraps, but it will reportedly feature some musical elements. Production is expected to begin this December. The Joker sequel is scheduled to make its debut in October 2024, which currently pits the film against no direct competition.
